Curbside Service

The Mobile Public Library is pleased to once again offer access to our most used services at curbside. We are now offering pickup on holds and prints, the ability to request copies and scans, and to send faxes - all at Curbside Service locations. All library buildings are still closed to public access.

Available Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., at most library locations. Saturday Curbside Service is available at Main and West. See a detailed list of locations and times in the F.A.Q. below.



Pick Up Your Holds

  • Request library items to be put on hold and choose one of the MPL locations participating in curbside services for pick up. To request, use the online catalog, our MPL To Go app (iOS or Android) or call for more assistance. Do you need some books for your kids but don't know what to request? Request a Children's Book Bundle.

  • You will be notified by text, email or phone when your items are ready to be picked up. This may take a few days or longer depending on demand.

  • When you arrive at the library, follow all signs to the pickup area and give us a call.

  • Your holds will be brought out by no-contact delivery. We are temporarily waiving checkout fees on DVDs and games - no money will be exchanged at Curbside Service. Existing fines and fees can be paid online or in the MPL To Go app (iOS or Android.)

  • You must return any library items to our book drops.


Send Us Your Prints

  • Curbside printing service for standard and legal-sized paper printed either color or black & white is available at all MPL locations participating in curbside services. Limited to 5 color pages and 20 black & white pages.

  • Before arriving at the library, submit your print job. Check the location's page in the menu above for all the details or call the location to ask how best to send them your files. Make sure to choose black & white or color, according to your need.

  • Go to the library location you picked to print, follow all signs to the pickup area and give us a call.

  • Your prints will be brought out by no-contact delivery. We are temporarily waiving print charges.


Get Copies Made

  • Curbside copying service for standard and legal-sized paper printed either color or black & white is available at all MPL locations participating in curbside services. Limited to 5 color pages and 20 black & white pages.

  • When you arrive at the library, follow all signs to the pickup area and give us a call.

  • Staff will direct you on how to provide your original documents to them for copying.

  • Once done, your original documents and copies will be brought out by no-contact delivery. We are temporarily waiving copying charges.


Get Scans Made

  • Curbside scanning service is available at all MPL locations participating in curbside services

  • When you arrive at the library, follow all signs to the pickup area and give us a call.

  • Staff will direct you on how to provide your original documents to them for scanning. PDF file scans will be sent to your own email.

  • Once done, your original documents will be brought out by no-contact delivery. There are no charges for this service.

  • If you wish to have a large amount of original documents scanned, staff will let you know the approximate time it will take. You are welcome to leave and come back later to retrieve your original documents by following curbside procedures.


Send Faxes

  • Curbside faxing service (outgoing faxes only) is available at all MPL locations participating in curbside services.

  • When you arrive at the library, follow all signs to the pickup area and give us a call.

  • Staff will direct you on how to provide your original documents to them for faxing.

  • Library staff will attempt to send the fax 3 times. There is no guarantee that the fax will send successfully.

  • Once done, you will be given a transmission receipt whether the fax submission is successful or not. We are temporarily waiving faxing charges.

  • Faxing can take as long as 30-45 minutes. You are welcome to leave and come back later to retrieve your original documents and receipt by following curbside procedures.

Who can use Curbside Service?

All community members can use the print, copy, scan, and fax service. All Mobile Public Library card holders in good standing can use holds pickup. To pick up holds you must have your library card number and you must have items on hold that are ready to be picked up. To get a temporary library card call us or apply here. Existing fines and fees can be paid online or in the MPL To Go app (iOS or Android.)

How many items can I pick up using Curbside Service?

Patrons can request holds on up to 35 items at one time: this is a temporary increase from 25. Each account is still limited to 75 total check-outs, with DVD checkouts limited to 12 and games limited to 2 at a time.

How do I return library materials?

You may return your library materials to the book drops. All returns will the quarantined for at least 72 hours before checked in.

Will I be fined if I am unable to return library materials during the closure?

No, you will not accrue fines for materials during the library closure. We will extend all due dates until the library reopens.
