Join Mobile Public Library and our community partners as we kick off our Summer Library Celebration and celebrate our community with a mini-touch-a-truck, music, fun activities, and much more! Our theme this summer is "Color Our World."
The Kickoff Party is on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 10 a.m. to noon at Ben May Main Library.
It’s all a part of our Summer Library Celebration: a summer filled with events and programs for all ages and our summer reading challenge at all Mobile Public Library locations!

- The reading challenge is from June 1 - July 31.
- Set your reading goal and track your books all summer long!
- Complete and submit your reading log to enter the Grand Prize Drawing for a $100 Family Fun Gift Card to Dave & Busters, Nexus Cinema, or Topgolf!
And, in June and July, enjoy exciting performances across Mobile Public Library locations, including:
- Bill Packard the Magic Man: Live and In Color
- Digeridoo Down Under
- Environmental Studies Center: Wildlife of Mobile Road Show
- The Excelsior Band
- Ron G. Biv: One Shade Off!
- The Story Ship presents “The Rainbow Thief”!
And fun programs for all ages including arts & crafts, book clubs, computer education, exhibits and so much more at your Mobile Public Library!

June 16-18: Librarian's Special - Libraries host unique events this week. Check the events labeled "Librarian Special" for themes.

June 23-26: The Story Ship Presents “The Rainbow Thief” - Magic Show, sing-along music, interactive animation, and a dazzling rainbow finale!
June 30-July 3: Librarian's Special - Libraries host unique events this week. Check the events labeled "Librarian Special" for themes.

Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge is June 1 through July 31, 2025! Preregistration begins begins May 15!
Visit any Mobile Public Library location to register for the Summer Reading Challenge and receive your reading log! Set a goal of how many books you will read this summer. Return your completed reading log to any Mobile Public Library location to receive an entry to a drawing for a Grand Prize Family Fun Experience - $100 gift card to Dave & Busters, Nexus Cinema, or Topgolf!
