Praise for a Georgia Writer from the Birmingham Jail

In partnership with the Mobile Public Library, the Southern Literary Trail proudly presents Georgia writer Lillian Smith and her groundbreaking work, Killers of the Dream. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. notably praised Smith in his seminal Letter from Birmingham Jail, recognizing her courageous voice against segregation and injustice.

On June 16 at 6 p.m. in Bernheim Hall join us for a screening of the powerful documentary Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence, which explores her life, legacy, and enduring influence on civil rights and Southern literature.
