Community Resources Guide

The basis of Mulherin’s service is 24 hour/day- 365 days/year residential care and we are the only residential facility in Mobile that serves such a varied degree of disability.  

We also provide respite services for individuals in the community whose family may need a "break" or temporary housing for their loved one.  

Services are free to low-income homeowners in Choctaw, Clarke,
Mobile, and Washington counties. Our client base is veterans, senior
citizens, those living with disabilities, and single-parent
households. our services are offered by volunteers-skilled and
unskilled.

Requirements are: must own the home (no rental property or heir
properties), have resided in the home for more than 3 years, and meet
our income requirements.

Services Provided: 

Safe Harbor is a residential community located in South Mobile County, Alabama that seeks to provide quality homes that are modest in cost to those in our workforce economy.

Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M.

The agency provides various services for older adults, persons with disabilities and caregivers.

Over 25 senior centers provide recreation, transportation to the center, and a midday meal; or home-delivered meals for the homebound.

Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and their family members, friends, and supporters can make the call to or chat online with the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans, where trained counselors are ready to talk confidentially 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Services:

Volunteers of America Southeast offers direct human-care services, affordable housing, faith-based resource programs, and community outreach.

Some of our services provide care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health issues, substance abuse, low-income seniors, and the homeless

Non-Profit Faith-Based Residential and Educational Program for children and young adults. 

Transitional living programs, education programs, and community-based education programs.
