Southwest Alabama Partnerships for Training and Employment (SWAPTE) is the workforce investment agency operating under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. (WIOA). 

SWAPTE underwrites training and employment programs to get jobseekers skilled, trained and ready to enter the workforce. 

Springhill Medical Center is a 263-bed acute care hospital located in the U.S. city of Mobile, Alabama. It is accredited by The Joint Commission.

Food Pantry: Tuesdays and Thursdays: 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.

United Way's MyFreeTaxes™ helps people file their taxes for free while getting the assistance they need.

Their self-preparation software (accessible by selecting the “File My Own Taxes” option on their website) is completely free. They connect users to one of two self-preparation software options based on their income. With 50 years of experience, The Bridge is a leading treatment provider in Alabama for adolescents with substance use disorders and for those who need behavioral rehabilitation. Our services include early intervention, outpatient, residential and intensive in-home care. We have locations in 30 counties in Alabama and our caring, professional staff provide services that are individualized for each adolescent and their family.

Programs available: 

Positive Parenting Classes built on the premise that maltreatment of children can be treated and prevented through a systematic application of family-based parenting classes. 

Elevate - Healthy Relationships are free classes for couples that focus on strengthening communication skills, deepening emotional connections, conflict resolution techniques, and more.

  • Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides a free book each month to children from birth until their fifth birthday.

Mitchell Cancer Institute hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

USA Health Providence in Mobile, Alabama, is a full-service 349-bed hospital with 24/7 emergency care that also operates an outpatient diagnostic center and a freestanding rehabilitation and wellness center. We provide advanced surgical care for serious and life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Our care teams listen to understand your health needs and deliver care that's right for you. Ascension Providence is a destination for specialty care.

USA Health University Hospital is an acute care facility serving as the major referral center for southwest Alabama, southeast Mississippi, and portions of northwest Florida. 

We offer centers for Level I trauma, burn, stroke, cardiovascular disease, and sickle cell disease. 

As a teaching and research facility for the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama, University Hospital plays a key role in the development of new technology, treatments, and training of future healthcare professionals. 

Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and their family members, friends, and supporters can make the call to or chat online with the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans, where trained counselors are ready to talk confidentially 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
